In the 1970′s the “fat free” lie began. To lose weight, people started thinking eating less fat only would get them the results. People began eating more and more carbohydrates and companies capitalized on this and made them more tasty and more convenient. Sugar is addictive and once one goes “convenient”, it’s kinda hard to go back to “inconvenience” Our brain’s limbic system is our pleasure center and it controls emotions, memories and smell. With the sight of food, dopamine flushes the brain. Studies have actually shown that there are similarities between the PET scan of a drug addicts brain and the obese patient’s brain who is more vulnerable to food intake as a source of pleasure.
